A city boutique will host a “Shoptober Bra Crawl” in the Elmwood Village today to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Participating businesses in the Elmwood District have been displaying decorated bras this month as part of the crawl contest, and bras from last year’s contest have been on display in the Elmwood Gallery for the Arts.
Patrons who stop into the more than 40 participating businesses from 5 to 9 this evening can vote on their favorite bra.
Each business also will donate 15 percent of their sales to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, which keeps the money raised in Western New York, said Her Story Boutique owner and bra crawl organizer Susan Morreale, a breast cancer survivor.
The mix of businesses include bars and restaurants, several of which will offer special pink cocktails.
Lloyd’s Taco Truck will be parked outside Her Story Boutique, 779 Elmwood Ave., and will donate to the cause, as well.
“This is an excellent opportunity for us to show unity in the Elmwood Village, while supporting a great organization with a night of local shopping, fashion, food, and giving back,” Morreale said in a news release.
