The city’s newest hotel – the Hilton Garden Inn at the former Tishman Building – is now open for business.
The new 124-room Hilton, unveiled by Hamister Group on Wednesday after receiving final city and corporate approvals, occupies the first 14 floors of the historic 20-story tower, now dubbed 10 Lafayette Square.
The hotel includes both suites and standard hotel rooms, a lobby bar, a full-service restaurant and 3,800 square feet of meeting and banquet space.
The launch of the hotel marks the final step in the $42 million transformation of the longtime office building, which the hospitality firm acquired in December 2012 with a plan to convert it into a mixed-use facility that also includes 18 luxury apartments and Hamister’s corporate headquarters. Hamister moved into the top three floors in July, while tenants moved into 12 of the one- and two-bedroom apartments on the next three floors starting in August. Six apartments are still available for lease.
“I’m extremely proud of the transformation that this building has made and am grateful to be a part of the new and improved landscape of downtown Buffalo,” said Mark Hamister, the firm’s chairman and CEO. “We have been in the business of providing superior customer service for 37 years and are looking forward to showing off our hospitality expertise in this beautiful new Hilton Garden Inn.”
