The Harmonia Chamber Singers recently released a CD called “Into the Light,” and in a concert this weekend, the singers plan to let that light shine. The concert is called “Across the Bridge of Hope,” and it is a portrait of cultures and religions worldwide that have triumphed over sufferings and tribulations. African-American spirituals are included, and the “Lamentations of Jeremiah” by the Renaissance master Thomas Tallis. Other titles include “Even When God Is Silent,” “The Prayer of the Children” and R. Nathaniel Dett’s lovely treatment of “Ave Maria.”
Two performances are scheduled. The first is at 7 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph University Church (3269 Main St.). The second performance is 7 p.m. Sunday in Calvary Episcopal Church (20 Milton St., Williamsville).
Admission is by free-will offering. For info, visit www.harmoniacs.org.
