A Cheektowaga couple has been charged in a child abuse investigation involving their twin sons, town police said Wednesday.
Brian Rickrode, 32, and Sherri Anderson, 22, of George Urban Boulevard, each were charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.
According to Assistant Chief Jim Speyer, police were contacted by the Erie County Department of Child Protective Services about the children. During an examination of the 2-year-old boys earlier this month, CPS found both had multiple bruises and one of them bore a distinctive belt mark, Speyer said.
Both boys, as well as the couple’s 6-month-old child, were placed in the care of a relative, Speyer said.
Following arraignment before Town Justice Paul S. Piotrowski, bail was set at $5,000 each for Rickrode and Anderson.
