Buffalo group gets $25,000 grant for sustainable communities

Buffalo Local Initiatives Support Corp., also known as Buffalo LISC, has received a $25,000 grant from First Niagara Foundation to support its “Sustainable Communities Initiative.”

The funds will be used to aid neighborhood commercial and housing revitalization, and toward the establishment of the Financial “Opportunities Center on the West Side. LISC works on the upper and lower West Sides, the Larkin District and the Kensington-Bailey neighborhood on the East Side.

“First Niagara is a huge proponent of initiatives that improve our neighborhoods, increase self-sufficiency and revitalize our community,” said Buford Sears, the bank’s regional president for Western New York. “We are proud to work with Local Initiatives Support Corporation to provide financing opportunities and resources that enable families and businesses to take root in the City of Buffalo.”
