Reading for the Record

Hundreds of local children joined “the largest worldwide reading experience” by reading “Bunny Cakes” at the downtown Central Library this morning.

Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski read the story about “birthday shenanigans” along with 300 children in the pre-kindergarten programs at Bennett Park Montessori School and Enterprise Charter.

The annual “Read for the Record” project, now in its eighth year, is intended to celebrate literacy by gathering children in libraries, schools and businesses around the world.

Last year 2.46 million adults and children broke a world record by participating.
