Our weekly rundown at BN Blitz of the players from Western New York (along with the University at Buffalo) currently in the NFL:
Brett Kern: The Grand Island native punted five times for 196 yards for the Tennessee Titans in a 19-17 loss to Washington. Kern's net average was 39.0 yards (39.2 gross, long of 44) on the five punts, with two of them being downed inside the 20-yard line.
John Urschel: The Baltimore Ravens' rookie and Canisius High School product -- a fifth-round pick in May -- made his second career start, playing all 67 offensive snaps in his team's 29-7 win over Atlanta. Urschel also took five special teams snaps.
Khalil Mack: The No. 5 overall pick in May's draft by the Oakland Raiders, Mack made a team-high 11 tackles, including three for loss, in his team's 24-13 loss to Arizona. Mack played 67 defensive snaps (88 percent) and another four (15 percent) on special teams.
Trevor Scott: The Chicago Bears' defensive end was inactive for his team's 27-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Branden Oliver: The Chargers' running back, a rookie undrafted free agent, carried 15 times for 67 yards (4.5 yards per carry) and had two catches for 11 yards in a 23-20 loss to Kansas City. Oliver played 39 offensive snaps (75 percent) and one on special teams (3 percent).
Josh Thomas: Thomas, a cornerback, was inactive for the New York Jets for their loss against New England.
