Letter: GOP must rediscover what made party great

GOP must rediscover what made party great

The Republicans must be scraping the bottom of the barrel for a 2016 presidential candidate when they are thinking of running Mitt Romney again! In the last campaign, he dismissed 47 percent of the population as unreachable and he ran from a successful health plan he put in effect as governor.

Romney was bicycling in France during the Vietnam War, supposedly doing “missionary work,” and his business career focused on closing factories and putting thousands of Americans out of work to profit big businesses.

Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Rand Paul, Gov. Chris Christie and Rep. Michele Bachmann are unelectable. The extremist bosses of the Republican Party have only Jeb Bush and poor, sad Romney to scrape up! Whatever happened to the party that successfully ran Dwight Eisenhower and had Nelson Rockefeller, Jacob Javits and Kenneth Keating right here in New York State?

If the Republicans find that golden middle and learn to compromise, they may truly return to a party for all the people.
