Church reaches out to African-American gay community

The Unity Fellowship Church of Buffalo will reach out to the African-American gay community this week, hosting three evenings of “revival” events with music, prayer and preaching.

Guest preachers will speak to the theme “All God’s Children” from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 3107 Main St.

“Our gay brothers and sisters are welcome into the fellowship of Christ on the same basis as everyone else, with the same right to express love and to have loving relationships celebrated,” the church said in a prepared statement.

Guests include opening night speaker Rev. Marvin A. McMickle, former pastor of the Antioch Baptists Church in Cleveland, Ohio and current president of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester.
