TORONTO – However this year’s Oscar season works out, it is likely the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival will be remembered as the year of the Murray — Bill Murray, that is.
TIFF classified today as Bill Murray Day to tie in with tonight’s world premiere of the actor’s latest, “St. Vincent,” and it is a testament to his iconic status that tickets were gobbled up within minutes.
That fact should make day two of the festival even crazier than usual, as fans clog the rush line for “Vincent” and three Murray classics: “Stripes,” “Ghostbusters” and “Groundhog Day.”
I have news for them: You’re probably not getting in; the rush line tends to be a waste of time.
Of course, the rush, so to speak, is also part of the fun. I’ll be racing between theaters and films all day, starting with Juliette Binoche and Kristen a Stewart in “Clouds of Sils Maria.” Perhaps Bill Murray will show up in the rush line.
