Where we live: Lancaster

Town officials have begun looking for a new leader for the Parks and Recreation and Forestry departments after General Crew Chief Terrence D. McCracken announced he was leaving.

In a two-paragraph resignation letter submitted to the Town Board on Aug. 19, McCracken offered no hint of what’s behind his decision. The resignation is effective Monday.

McCracken, who worked for the town for 19 years, had an annual salary of $73,571.

The job opening was posted last week. Applications and resumes must be submitted to Town Supervisor Dino J. Fudoli by Sept. 15.

This week:

• A Town Board work session is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a regular meeting at 7, in Town Hall, 21 Central Ave.

• Lancaster Market, which sells locally grown food and handcrafted products, is open twice a week through the end of October. Hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at Kate’s Cousins Market, 6183 Broadway; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays at 4913 Transit Road, in the parking lot of Lancaster Lanes. There’s also a garage sale the first Saturday of each month, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Transit Road location.
