MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Legislature has approved making office hours for county offices uniform year-round, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday – except on federal holidays.
Previously, these were the summer hours for county offices.
Hours for the remainder of the year had been 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Jay Gould, Legislature chairman, said an employee survey led to the change, and “90 percent of respondents were in favor of maintaining office hours at the county offices from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Legislature unanimously supported the resolution in response to the wishes of the employees.”
“Now that office hours are the same all year-round, we also hope that this consistent approach will better serve the public,” he added.
Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan noted the change does not affect hours for these county services:
• Jamestown Mental Health and Addiction Clinic – Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Dunkirk Mental Health and Addiction Clinic – Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Department of Health and Human Services Division of Fiscal Management – Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The Department of Motor Vehicles is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. four days a week, and one extended day – 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. – on the following days: Dunkirk DMV, Monday; Mayville DMV, Wednesday; and Jamestown DMV, Thursday.
