Canadian gets three years in prison in prostitution case

A man from Canada was sentenced Friday to three years in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.

D’Shawn Rose had previously admitted to trying to transport a 16-year old girl from Buffalo to Las Vegas, Nev., to work as a prostitute.

Defense lawyer Cheryl Meyers Buth said Rose was 20 at the time and had been told by the girl that she was 18. She also said the girl was already working as prostitute.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward H. White said Rose was out to profit from the underaged girl’s illegal activities and clearly played a “leadership role" in the scheme.
