Two drivers injured, Buffalo driver ticketed

LOCKPORT -- Two drivers were treated for injuries after a crash Tuesday on the northbound lane of South Transit Road in the Town of Lockport, and an 18-year-old Buffalo motorist was ticketed for the incident, the State Police reported Thursday.

Mario A. DiGiacomo of Buffalo was heading north on the road when his vehicle moved to the eastbound shoulder and struck a mailbox and a sign. Re-entering South Transit Road DiGiacomo struck a southbound vehicle operated by John C. Hughes, 72, of Olcott. Both were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport and released. DiGiacomo was issued citations for driving an uninspected vehicle, failing to keep right and moving between lanes unsafely.
