Three hospitalized after Millersport Highway crash

An Amherst woman and two Lockport men were hospitalized Thursday after a three-car crash on the northbound Millersport Highway in Amherst near the entrance to the Lockport Expressway. The crash, which happened at about 5:15 p.m., closed the interchange for more than an hour.

Rachel Cook, 26, of Amherst, was taken by ambulance to the Erie County Medical Center with hip and back injuries. John Wright, 38, of Lockport, was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with a shoulder injury. Timothy Mulvey, 54, of Lockport, was taken to Lockport Memorial Hospital with rib injuries, according to Amherst Police Lt. John F. Olesko.

Cook, heading north on Millersport, had slowed to turn left into a driveway when Wright struck her from behind with his SUV, pushing her sedan into the southbound lane, where it was struck by Mulvey’s van, Lt. Olesko said. All three drivers were treated at the scene by the Getzville fire company before all were taken by Twin City Ambulances to the hospitals, he said.
