Sheryl Crow, Rascal Flatts share Darien Lake bill

Sheryl Crow does not look 52. You don’t need me to point this out. You can tell for yourself.

More significantly, Crow doesn’t sound 52 either. Her voice remains strong and deeply emotive, and her sturdy blend of rock, folk, pop, country and white soul tropes remains as engaging as it has ever been. It’s because of this that Crow has been able to slide so easily between genre classifications, gracefully making herself at home in worlds often thought to be mutually exclusive.

Whether jamming with the Rolling Stones, getting gritty with Kid Rock, or giving fans of contemporary country music a workout, Crow comes across as the genuine article – a singer/songwriter who has proven herself to be both enduring and dignified.

Crow is sharing the bill with one of modern country’s most popular bands, Rascal Flatts, on that multiplatinum outfit’s current “Rewind 2014” tour. This makes sense. Like Crow, Rascal Flatts attained and maintained immense mainstream popularity by blending pop, rock and country genres into a highly accessible hybrid.
