Letter: Hamburg district is using taxpayers to fund their circus

Hamburg district is using taxpayers to fund their circus

The 175th year of the Erie County Fair was here and is gone, however, the three-ring circus of the Hamburg School District continues to exist.

News headlines tell us $224,000 has been spent so far on legal issues. Every member of the Hamburg School District is liable to pay their portion. Residents and taxpayers, it is time to say enough is enough. How much more will this this three-ring circus cost us, the taxpayers?

The News article also goes on to say that Hamburg Board President David Yoviene states that this figure of $224,000 is worth it. Of course it is when we pay for it with our next school tax bill. This is a low-ball figure and will only increase as this circus continues.

Has a probationary period clause ever been considered for this superintendent’s $170,000-per-year job? This may eliminate future problems. Has consolidation ever been considered for these positions to save taxpayer dollars?

Come on Hamburg, we deserve better than this. Time to speak up and be involved.
