Niagara Falls man gets a quick trip back to jail

SANBORN – A Falls man who was visibly intoxicated as he walked down Saunders Settlement Road Tuesday afternoon told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that he was walking home from the Niagara County Jail in Lockport.

But after he allegedly threatened people, including deputies, and tried to steal from a local store, he was promptly given a ride back.

David G. Grimaldi, 46, of Fifth Street, was charged with petit larceny and trespassing.

Deputies said they were called to investigate an intoxicated man walking in and out of traffic at 2:25 p.m. in the 2800 block of Saunders Settlement Road. Deputies warned Grimaldi to keep walking, but as he left he walked away he went into the front yard of residence. A Subway restaurant employee also told deputies that Grimaldi tried to steal two bags of chips and was harassing customers. They were also concerned that he was going through cars.

Deputies took him into custody and said he made physical threats. They said he told them he was going to tear up the jail when he gets there and started kicking and thrashing around.
