Dunkirk man charged with firing shotgun out window

DUNKIRK – A 30-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after Fredonia State Police said he discharged a shotgun from a second-floor window of a residence in the 3800 block of Route 5 into a yard where people had gathered.

Alan Will, 30, was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment in connection with the incident that occurred around 8:40 p.m. at the home of his girlfriend.

Will also faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after two children – ages 1 and 5 – were found to be in the residence.

In addition, troopers charged Will with violating the state Environmental Conservation Law that prohibits the discharge a firearm within 500 feet of a residence.

Will was arraigned at the Town of Pomfret Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $5,000 cash/$10,000 property bond.

He was ordered to appear Sept. 8 in Dunkirk Town Court.
