Town of Amherst holding 9/11 remembrance

The public is invited to attend the Town of Amherst’s 9/11 Ceremony of Remembrance to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Amherst Memorial Hill Grove.

The site is located along the Ellicott Creek Trailway, near the entrance at North Forest Road, near Maple Road.

The 9/11 ceremony will include the laying of the wreath, the reading of the victims’ names, and the reciting of the prayer, “We Will Remember Them.”

The ceremony will last about 20 minutes and take place rain or shine. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs if they would like seating.

Also on that day, the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village will unveil a commemorative Sept. 11 exhibit piece, which was originally donated to the museum by the Amherst Past Fire Chiefs. The unveiling will take place at noon on Sept. 11 at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road.
