PARLATO, Rita Josephine (Runfola)

PARLATO - Rita Josephine (nee Runfola) Age 68, of Springfield, died August 23 in her home after a brief illness. She was born April 15, 1946 in Buffalo, the daughter of Mariano and Angeline (Oddo) Runfola. She had lived in Springfield, Ohio since 1981. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul, and her two sons, David (Christine - Cincinnati) and Steven (Beavercreek); a sister, Maria Runfola (Daniel Fahey - Buffalo); two grand-daughters and extended family in Buffalo and elsewhere. Rita's many talents led to a B.A. Degree Summa Cum Laude in Journalism and Communications from Point Park College (Pittsburgh) and the Gertrude Gordon Award as top female student journalist in the Greater Pittsburgh region. Anyone who had the good fortune of meeting her knew that they had encountered one of God's most warmly glowing spirits. Visitation and a Catholic Memorial Service will take place at LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, August 26, with burial the following day. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant House for runaway teens-www.covenanthouse.org or to Hollandia Botanical Gardens, PO Box 235, Springfield, OH 45501.
