Raymond McGrath, hospital chaplain and Eucharistic minister

Raymond McGrath, a former hospital chaplain for Kaleida Health and Eucharistic minister, died Saturday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. He was 75.

Mr. McGrath was born in Buffalo. He graduated from Kensington High School and earned an associate’s degree from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute.

He was a Eucharistic minister, religious educator and led Bible studies at St. Leo the Great.

He and his wife were the lead couple for mission renewal at St. Leo the Great for four years.

He received a certificate of pastoral studies from Christ the King Seminary, in East Aurora, and completed the Leadership Development in the Church Program at D’Youville College. He later became a certified hospital chaplain .

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, the former Louise De Spirt, and a sister, Therese McCrone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 885 Sweet Home Road, Amherst.
