Cheektowaga man’s jaw broken in Fillmore Avenue fracas

A Cheektowaga man’s jaw was broken when he and a friend were jumped by a large number of attackers about 4:45 a.m. Sunday outside a Fillmore Avenue night spot.

Ferry-Fillmore district police said the victims were attacked after they left Club Jazz, 751 Fillmore Ave. The Cheektowaga man suffered several facial cuts and bruises, and the jaw fracture was diagnosed during treatment at Erie County Medical Center. The other man, a Herman Street resident, also was beaten on the right side of the face.

Police said the attackers stole a set of car keys from the man with the broken jaw, and made off with his Chevrolet Monte Carlo, which was recovered later in the morning on Clark Street.

Another Cheektowaga man stopped his car to try to break up the fight, but the assailants also stole his car, a blue Pontiac Grand Prix. The stolen Pontiac was found this afternoon on Wilson Street.
