2014 Scrimmage Saturday schedule

They are not games, but Scrimmage Saturday is as close to the real thing as any high school football lover will be able to get until opening night Sept. 5.

Scrimmage Saturday is Aug. 30 and here is a list of locations and teams participating in the extravaganza.

If you don't see your scrimmage listed here, feel free to send your information to, or and the scrimmage will be added to the list. Or feel free to send me a tweet @miggyrod33 with the pertinent information.

I must admit, the noon four-way scrimmage at two-time Monsignor Martin champion Canisius looks intriguing. It features four playoff teams from last season, including a South Park team whose only losses last year came to eventual Section VI champions Jamestown and Williamsville North. Bennett also looked good in its playoff game before being subdued by a Depew team that reached the state semifinals.

Let's not forget the 9 a.m. annual six-way scrimmage hosted by Lockport at Emmet Belknap Middle School, which also includes Sweet Home, St. Francis, Grand Island, Niagara-Wheatfield and Lancaster.

The list:

-- Lockport hosts Sweet Home, St. Francis, Grand Island, Niagara-Wheatfield and Lancaster at 9 a.m. at Emmet Belknap Middle School.

-- Clarence hosts Williamsville North, Riverside and Starpoint at 9 a.m.
