All this talk about summer winding down is becoming quite the buzz-kill. Look, we have a full month of (official) summer remaining, and then at least a few weeks of tolerable fall weather -- unless this Vortex-which-must-not-be-named is hellbent on starting winter early. (Vortexmort?)
So, don't panic that we'll dip below freezing tomorrow -- that won't happen, as the temps are expected to range in the 70s and 80s all weekend -- take solace in the fact that there's still plenty to do in Western New York and reflect on all the cool events you've attended this summer -- even if the memories are a little hazy.
For this weekend, here are a few gatherings that we have our eyes on:
1) Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts, Saturday and Sunday: From the people-watching to digging for local artistic treasure to sidling up next to a colorful food truck, Elmwood's summer street festival shows off the neighborhood's true creative colors.
2) Buffalo Irish Festival, Friday, Saturday and Sunday: This cultural festival is inexpensive, delicious bangers are available for purchase and, if Michael Farrell's hype machine is correct, then Beoga will have you learning to jig on the waterfront.
3) Lewiston Jazz Festival, Saturday and Sunday. Few things go together with late summer like jazz. Other than ragweed, I suppose.
4) Art, Food and Music in East Aurora. OK, zero points for name originality, but you should go to this because Wild Rumpus.
