Norris makes his much anticipated Buffalo debut

What will Daniel Norris do?

The much-anticipated Buffalo debut for the lefty happens tonight as the Buffalo Bisons open a two-game set against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (7:05 p.m., Radio 1520).

Norris has been impressive in his two starts with the Herd on the road. He has struck out 23 of the 38 batters he's faced while his 13 punch outs last Friday in Lehigh Valley set a modern era record for a lefty. He is the only pitcher in the team's modern era to record 10 or more strikeouts in back-to-back outings.

The 21-year old began the season rated the No. 6 prospect in the Toronto Blue Jays organization by Baseball America. He was 6-0 in 13 starts in Single-A Dunedin to start the season. His Double-A debut was rough -- giving up eight runs in there innings, but it was his only losing decision of the season.

Other things you need to know for tonight's game:

  • Dalton Pompey makes his Triple-A debut leading off and playing centerfield. He played 70 games with Single-A Dunedin and 31 games with New Hampshire this season. He was a 2014 Futures Game selection with Dunedin.
  • Darin Mastroianni and Cole Gillespie both carrying hitting streaks into the game. Mastroianni, batting seventh today, has a nine-game streak. In his last 20 games he has 11 walks and 17 hits. Gillespie, taking the DH role today, has a seven-game streak in which he's batting .385 with a triple, two home runs and five runs batted in.
  • The Bisons remain three games back of the IL Wild Card spot trailing Pawtucket. The PawSox host Lehigh Valley, a team they have been destroying lately. Rochester, also three games back of Pawtucket, plays at IL North Division-leader Syracuse.

Tonight's Bisons' lineup:

Dalton Pompey -- CF
Anthony Gose -- RF
Cole Gillespie -- DH
Dan Johnson -- 1B
Matt Hague -- 3B
Ryan Goins -- 2B
Darin Mastroianni -- LF
Mike Nickeas -- C
Jonathan Diaz -- SS
