Bulletin Board for Aug. 22

The Academy of Stars 15U baseball team won five out of six tournaments this summer. Their final overall record was 49-7. The team also won the WNY Boys of Summer playoff championship. The Academy’s only loss in a tournament championship game came against a team from Dallas in Cincinnati. Members of the team included: Ben Monti, Adam O’Shei, Brendan Sheehan, Garrett Baughner, Nick Batchev, Adam Rosatti, Dawson Broad, Griff DeMeo, Andrew Vincent, Matt Kruszka and Carter Benton. The team’s manager was Derek Hill.

BASEBALL: Niagara Falls-based Cayuga Heat 14U travel team is holding a tryout at noon Sept. 6 at 1043 93rd St., Niagara Falls. For more info contact Chris at 609-1989 . . . The Evans Eagles travel program will hold tryouts for the 2015 13U team.

HALL OF FAME: The Sweet Home Athletic Hall of Fame will induct its 2014 class on Sept. 12 at Banchetti’s on North French Road, Amherst. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7. Tickets are $40. RUNNING: Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village’s third annual 5K Run/Walk in the Country takes place Sept. 27 at Heritage Village, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst, starting at 9 a.m., with the Kid’s Fun Run at 10 a.m. The first 200 prepaid registrants will receive a long sleeve tee. Immediately following the race, join the post-race celebration at Heritage Village where music, food, beer and water will be provided.
