Lancaster man gets jail term for driving stolen rental car

William A. Martin Jr., 46, of Stony Road, Lancaster was ordered by Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul S. Piotrowski to serve a jail term of up to six months on his guilty plea to a charge of criminal possession of stolen property.

Martin was arrested on Walden Avenue by Cheektowaga Police Officer Greg Maniccia July 11. Martin was pulled over because of his driving and the officer found the car he was driving had been reported stolen by the Avis Car Rental company in May. He also found Martin’s driver’s license was suspended.

Martin was spared a longer jail term because of his plea, court officials said.
