Mercy Hospital, part of Catholic Health, will hold a blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday to celebrate the opening of the Margaret L. Wendt Family Center. The center will serve as the surgical waiting area for family and loved ones.
The $500,000 renovation project at the South Buffalo hospital was funded by the Mercy Hospital Foundation through grant awards, special event revenue, individual donations and support from the Mercy Hospital medical staff.
The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation provided a $375,000 grant for the project.
The Family Center is located on the hospital’s third floor, near the Mercy Café, and features a surgical patient tracking board to track a patient’s progress throughout the surgery, enabling loved ones to stay constantly informed. The project includes a new addition, expansion of the waiting area and three new consultation rooms.
