Four rescued from Niagara Gorge’s Whirlpool Basin

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – Four men had to be rescued by the Niagara Parks Police High Angle River Team Sunday night when they got lost while hiking in the Niagara Gorge’s Whirlpool Basin.

At 8:43 p.m., Niagara Parks Police responded to a call from the men, who used their cell phones to call for help.

The rescuers rappeled into the gorge near Thompson’s Point, located the four men and escorted them to safety.

Two of the men are from the greater Toronto area and the other two are from Virginia.
