Where we live: Orchard Park

Orchard Park

A new police officer has been hired by the Town Board to replace another who retired.

Michael Mackey, 27, who grew up in Orchard Park and Hamburg, will be paid $43,881 a year. He’s an Army veteran who did a tour in Iraq, worked as a military police officer and was part of a special operations task force, according to Councilman Michael Sherry.

“We’re always looking for people of this quality for the police department,” Sherry said.
