Reporters’ Notebook

OLAF FUB SEZ: According to comedian Martin Mull, born on this date in 1943, “The trouble with jogging is that the ice falls out of your glass.”

Driving down a country road,

Everywhere I look, there’s green.

Mother Nature puts on a show,

The best one you’ve ever seen.

Try your best to count

The many shades of green.

You just can’t do it.

Sorry if that seems mean.

Many thoughts rush back

When seeing all this green,

Like playing in a tree house

When we were just a teen.

How did all these trees get started

With such gorgeous shades of green?

Could it have been by God’s hand

Or was it a magic bean?

Mother Nature deserves a hand,

She created all the green.

Without a shadow of doubt,

Has earned the title of Queen.

The saddest time comes

When the colors fade from green.

Its long life has ended

As the tree begins to lean.
