Several local labors unions have come out in support of Timothy M. Kennedy for re-election to the 63rd State Senate District seat.
Leaders from labor organizations that represent thousands of local workers appeared with Kennedy Friday at the Buffalo offices of 1199 SEIU to pledge their support of his campaign. Kennedy faces a pitched battle against Erie County Legislator Betty Jean Grant in the Sept. 9 Democratic primary race .
The Area Labor Federation is planning to hold a labor walk Aug. 28, during which workers will be canvassing neighborhoods in the district, urging voters to support Kennedy in the primary.
Last week, Grant, who received the endorsement of the Democratic Party’s executive committee, also was endorsed by County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz.
