Tools worth $4,000 stolen from Wheatfield truck

WHEATFIELD – More than $4,000 worth of tools and other possessions were stolen from a Rohr Street man’s pickup truck overnight Thursday, sheriff’s deputies reported.

The victim discovered the theft Friday morning while driving to work, deputies said, after he noticed the bed cover to his truck flapping in the wind. Deputies said that someone unsnapped the cover while the vehicle was parked in the victim’s driveway, probably between midnight and 5 a.m. Several tools were stolen, the most valuable being an air data multimeter valued at $2,200. Other items taken included a global positioning system, sunglasses, a cellular telephone and a Harley Davidson watch.

In all, the loss was estimated in excess of $4,400.
