Fire damages vacant apartment house in Buffalo

A fire early Saturday morning damaged a vacant apartment building and the house next door in Buffalo’s Seneca-Babcock neighborhood.

The fire at 189 Orlando St., a four-unit apartment house, was reported at 1:53 a.m., according to a fire dispatcher. Damage to the 2½-story frame structure was estimated at $50,000.

An occupied house at 193 Orlando St. suffered an estimated $5,000 damage when it was hit by a falling chimney. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
