Police say vehicle dragging mailbox was operated by drunken driver

LOCKPORT – State police said that while investigating the report Saturday of erratic driving on Saunders Settlement Road spotted a vehicle with sparks flying from beneath the undercarriage – the result of a mailbox being dragged down the road.

Christopher J. Tagg, 27, of Lockport, was charged with driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and second-degree criminal impersonation. Tagg identified himself with a false name, deputies said, posted a blood-alcohol level of .14 percent and was the subject of an outstanding bench warrant in the Town of Lockport.
