Kings of Leon cancel Darien Lake, other shows

The Kings of Leon have canceled their concerts for the next two weeks, including a stop at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, after an injury sustained by drummer Nathan Followill in a weekend tour bus accident.

Followill sustained broken ribs, but is said to be doing well. However, he is on “strict doctor’s orders to rest.”

“The process is now to rest in order for healing to take place. To avoid complications and to make a full recovery, a break from performing to August 28 is necessary,” said Dr. Faiz Bhora, chief of Thoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital.

The band was scheduled to perform Tuesday at Darien Lake. Refunds for ticket holders will be available at point of purchase.

The accident happened en route to the band’s hotel in Boston after a pedestrian jumped in front of the tour bus. KOL is scheduled to return to the road on Aug. 28. It will, however, perform tonight on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” with resident band leader, Questlove, sitting in on drums.

“I’m counting down the days until I can get back in the saddle and continue what has been our best American tour so far,” Followill said in a press release.
