How to cash in on birthday freebies

If you hate birthdays, you’ve obviously never made the rounds filling up on free food and presents from retailers and restaurants on your born day.

Here’s what you’re missing.

Sephora. Become a Beauty Insider and get a free birthday gift during your birth month. Right now they’re giving away Make Up For Ever brand Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick and Smoky Extravagant mascara. Not bad, huh?

Joe’s Crab Shack. When you sign up for “Joe Mail,” you’ll get a free appetizer, plus another one when your birthday rolls around.

Starbucks. Use your MyStarbucks Rewards card to get a free drink or food item during your birth month. You’ll also get a 15 percent off coupon for Did somebody say tall, half-caff coffee Frappuccino with extra whip?

Applebee’s. Receive a free dessert or entree on your birthday. The Triple Chocolate Meltdown is awesome.

Ben & Jerry’s. Get a free scoop of ice cream at its Scoop Shop in the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls. It’s the perfect time to try a new flavor without having to commit to a whole pint.

Dairy Queen. Blizzard Fan Club members get a free birthday Blizzard. Dairy Queen also sends a coupon for another freebie to celebrate your anniversary.

Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. Join the Pretzel Perks program and celebrate life with one of those irresistible pretzels for free.

T.G.I.Friday’s. Purchase an entree on your birthday and you’ll get a free dessert.

And if you sign up for the Give Me More Stripes program, you’ll immediately get a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert, plus a one-time Jump the Line Pass that allows you to skip to the front of the crowd instead of waiting who knows how long for a table.

Barnes & Noble. Sign the kiddies up for B&N Kids club. They’ll get a voucher for a giant, delicious cupcake.

Red Robin. Join the eClub and you’ll get a free birthday burger. Birthday burger. Yum.

Ruby Tuesday. Get another free birthday burger by signing up for the So Connected club. Double yum.

Old Country Buffet. Sign up for a free birthday meal through the eClub. They’re super generous with their buy-one-get-one-free vouchers, too.

Because binge eating shouldn’t be done alone.

Denny’s. Show your ID at a participating location and receive a free Original Grand Slam meal. Tax and tip are extra. So are chocolate milkshakes, because you know you want one.

Boulevard Mall. Remember when your grandma used to send you $10 in the mail for your birthday?

Well, Boulevard Mall has taken over for her.

Sign up for its e-club and you’ll receive a free $10 gift card during your birth month. Whether you start referring to the mall as Nonna is up to you.

Pets. Your pets can get in on the action, too.

Enter your pet’s birthday or adoption date and you’ll get a percentage-off coupon from PetCo’s Pet Birthday club, a free gift from the Pet Supplies Plus Preferred Pet Club, and a birthday card with a special offer from PetSmart’s PetPerks.
