The Erie County Cancer Services program has joined with the TLC Health Network to sponsor free breast cancer screening from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at Gowanda Urgent Care & Medical Center, 34 Commercial St.
Screening is open to all women 40 and older who do not have health insurance and have not had a mammogram in the past year. Eligible participants may also qualify for free followup testing and treatment through the Erie County Cancer Services program.
“We want to help area women continue their journey toward better health,” said Dr. Gale R. Burstein, Erie County Commissioner of Health.
“An annual mammogram is still one of the best ways to detect breast cancer early, when complete recovery is possible. A lack of health insurance should not prevent women from getting this vital care,” Dr. Burstein added.
Erie County residents seeking to determine their eligibility for a free breast cancer screening may call 858-7376 for more information.
