Debra L. Baldwin, an office manager at the University at Buffalo, died Friday in her Cheektowaga home after a short illness. She was 37.
Born Debra Geddes in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Maryvale High School and earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Bryant & Stratton College and a bachelor’s degree from Medaille College.
Mrs. Baldwin was school secretary for four years at Westminster Charter School in Buffalo, then in 2011 became office manager for the Undergraduate Programs office in UB’s School of Management. She left in 2012 to care for her family.
She and her husband, C. Dale, met through the matchmaking efforts of her father and his mother, who became friends while taking part in a program for people with organ transplants. The couple were featured in a story in The Buffalo News when they were married in 2007.
She was a volunteer for Upstate New York Transplant Services and its Donate Life campaign.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Ruby K.; her parents, Ronald and Kathleen Geddes; a brother, Joseph Geddes; and her grandparents, John and Margaret O’Day and Al and Elaine Geddes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Martha Parish, 10 French Road, Depew.
