SECOND HELPING – English singer Scott Dee, having sold out his tribute to Engelbert Humperdinck last year, is returning to present it again in a dinner show Sunday in Banchetti’s by Rizzo, 550 North French Road, Getzville.

Engelbert isn’t all that he does, however. Dee will be in town all week, appearing with the Fab Four’s Ultimate Tribute at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Erie County Fair, performing the national anthem for the Bisons at 1 p.m. Thursday at Coca-Cola Field and appearing at a live WECK radio broadcast from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Tops Market, 3980 Maple Road, Amherst.


CHIP SHOT – About 20 places remain for golfers in the third annual Spc. Blake D. Whipple Memorial Golf Tournament next Monday at Park Country Club, 4949 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. Sign-in begins at 10:30 a.m., with golf at noon and a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a silent auction at 6:30.

Tickets are $275 for the tournament, $100 for the dinner only, with proceeds going to organizations that support veterans, active military and their dependents through financial aid, scholarships and awards. TASTE TEST – Deadline is Wednesday for entries for the seventh annual Buffalo’s Best Pierogi Contest, held as part of the 35th Dozynki Polish Harvest Festival, taking place Friday through Sunday at Corpus Christi Church, 199 Clark St., a block from the Broadway Market.

Celebrity judges will award prizes at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in four categories – homemade traditional, homemade nontraditional, commercial and dessert. Entries can be made online at or by calling the rectory at 896-1050.


TAKING FLIGHT – Wings Flights of Hope, which gives free airlifts to medical patients needing out-of-town treatments, was the beneficiary as Colley’s Pools & Spas, with locations in Hamburg, Fredonia and Erie, Pa., held a drawing for an above-ground pool package during their recent customer appreciation event. The drawing raised $1,661.


CASH FOR COLLEGE – Applications are being accepted from full-time female students of Hispanic origin for the annual Hispanic Women’s League college scholarship awards. Students must live in Buffalo or the Niagara Frontier, have completed at least 24 degree credit hours and maintained at least a 2.75 grade point average.
