17 indicted in connection with Schuele Boys gang

A federal grand jury has indicted 17 local men in connection with drug dealing allegations against the Schuele Boys gang.

The indictment charges the defendants with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine and follows the arrest two weeks ago of many of those same alleged gang members.

Assistant U.S. Attorney George C. Burgasser said the East Side gang was also involved in shootings and other acts of violence, and used a variety of tactics, including frequent changing of cell phones, to avoid the police.

The indictment is the result of an investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force which includes several local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
