Pennsylvania man jailed for Falls sex offense

LOCKPORT – A Pennsylvania man who was visiting Niagara Falls to attend a wedding last year was sentenced Tuesday to six months in Niagara County Jail to start a 10-year probation term for first-degree sexual abuse.

Darryl L. Benedict, 32, of Clarks Summit, Pa., pleaded guilty to that charge in February before County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III, who imposed the sentence.

Benedict was charged with entering a room in the Quality Inn in Niagara Falls April 20, 2013, and attempting to have sex with a woman who was intoxicated and asleep.
