LOCKPORT – Niagara County Fair organizers announced Monday that three 4-H members were named Fair royalty at the closing ceremony of the event Sunday evening.
Chaya Shepard, 18, of Gasport; Dana Daigler, 16, of Lockport; and Zackary Alt, 16, of Newfane, were the honorees. Chaya worked in the pie kitchen, milk bar and chicken barbecue, judged adult exhibits and entered the photography contests.
Dana was a mannequin model at the fair, as well as selling pies and participating in the antique tractor parade. Zackary also worked at the milk bar and barbecue and helped out fairgoers who became stuck in the muddy parking lots.
Also, Lockport farmer Paul Rockwood won the Grace Herr Award as the top adult volunteer for his work on the fair committee. He and his brother ran the toy tractor pull, and Rockwood also spread sawdust on the driveways, helped vendors and stage acts set up, and helped schedule the entertainment.
