Level 3 sex offender goes into drug treatment

LOCKPORT – A Level 3 sex offender from Niagara Falls was admitted to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment Monday, after pleading guilty to selling cocaine last year.

Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas warned Christopher Means, 39, of Spruce Avenue, that he faces six to 15 years in prison if he washes out of the treatment program. If he succeeds, his drug charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor with a no-jail sentence.

Means pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for the May 13, 2013, drug deal with a police informant.

Means served six years in prison for a 1997 conviction for first-degree sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, leading to his spot on the state sex offender registry.
