Spinyasa gave glimpse into outdoor fitness in WNY this summer

Sara Feiler may look like she’s leading a class last Monday evening in the parking lot outside Hive: Lifespan Center in East Amherst, but she’s actually one of dozens of those who took spinning classes as part of Spinyasa. (Photos by Dan Cappellazzo/Special to The Buffalo News)

The staff at Hive: Lifespan Center was among many of those who planned gatherings during the last couple of weeks and ended up with fingers crossed because storms were in the forecast.

The weather held Monday for the fitness center’s third annual Spinyasa, a free outdoor gathering that combined group spinning and yoga classes.

More than 150 people showed up in to the center’s parking lot along Transit near North French roads in East Amherst, Hive owner Chris Salisbury told me.

For more info on other outdoor summer fitness activities in Western New York, read a story here that I wrote a few weeks ago.

I also have stories that will appear Thursday in Summer Life and Saturday in WNY Refresh that will give you even more ideas on how to burn some energy and spend the remaining weeks of summer weather outside – before snow season starts.

Spinning and yoga classes took place side-by-side last Monday in the Hive parking lot.
