NIAGARA FALLS – Events will be offered at four locations in the city Saturday as part of a promotion called “Grand Gardens of the Niagara Portage,” organized by Peter Ames, event chairman for Oakwood Cemetery.
The cemetery, 763 Portage Road, will offer tree identification tours and tours of the graves of distinguished people buried there from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A master gardener presentation and a garden dedication ceremony also are on tap.
Schoellkopf Park, on Portage Road between Pine and Walnut avenues, will offer tours, yoga and tai chi, and question-and-answer opportunities with members of the Schoellkopf Garden Club, all between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
At the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, Portage Road and Pine Avenue, a community garden tour, petting zoo, games and summer art camp activities for kids will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Niagara Falls Public Library, 1425 Main St., will feature activities for all ages in its learning garden from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
