Maine driver jailed on drug charges after arrest in Depew

A resident of Maine was arrested Friday in Depew on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, Depew police said.

Dennis Fairweather, 30, of Biddeford, who was pulled over shortly after noon on Transit Road, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and possession of a controlled substance outside of its original container, police said. Fairweather also is wanted on a felony bench warrant from Maine, police said.

He was taken to Erie County Holding Center in lieu of bail of $1,500 cash, or $3,000 bond, and is scheduled to return to Depew Village Court on Wednesday.
