With the passage of crossbow legalization for big game hunters in New York State for this fall, many hunters have questions about the item’s functions and use as a hunting device.
Wilson Conservation Club has held informational/demo days at its clubhouse at 2934 Wilson-Cambria Road, but a Crossbow Demonstration Day set for Saturday will have even more significance now that crossbows will be legal afield this season.
Factory representatives from Darton Archery, Excalibur Crossbows, Winchester Archery, Parker Crossbows, Ten Point, Mission Ridge and others will on hand to show current product lines. Visitors will be able to handle and shoot many crossbow models on the club range.
Weather is not a factor for this event. The Wilson club can set up shooting areas indoors as well as outdoors.
This free demo day goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The club will be serving food and holding a basket auction and raffles during the event.
Ken Baginski, Department of Environmental Conservation Sportsmen Education Coordinator, will attend to offer information on license requirements. Local experts and club members will assist in range use.
