First of three gang assault suspects arrested in City Court building

A 24-year-old Hewitt Avenue man who went to the Buffalo City Court Building for other reasons was taken into custody as one of the three men who allegedly severely beat a man playing street basketball on Blaine Avenue July 20.

Marcus Young was charged about 10 a.m. with the B felony count of first-degree gang assault which carries a state prison term of up to 25 years upon conviction.

Young is accused of being one of the three men who beat and kicked a 4th Street man playing street basketball. The victim was treated at Sisters Hospital for head injuries including a broken nose, a contusion and a black eye. Detectives, who continue to look for the two other suspects, did not release a motive for the street assault.
